Drama Department Theatre Events and Trips 2016-17


As you are aware GCSE and A Level Theatre Studies pupils are required to see a variety of live productions of different styles and genres as part of their examination work.

The following trips have been arranged for the Theatre Studies pupils and they are a necessary part of the course, and so are subsidised by the Drama Department.

 For GCSE and A Level Theatre Studies Pupils

  • Thursday 15th September 2016 - 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time' adapted by Simon Stephens. Choreographed by Frantic Assembly

The Gielgud Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, London. For all GCSE and A Level Theatre Studies pupils.

  • Thursday 22nd September 2016 - Frantic Assembly Workshop

Dance Studio (Workshop One 10.00am - 12.00pm) (Workshop Two 1.30pm - 3.30pm)

For all GCSE and A Level Theatre Studies pupils. As this is a Physical Theatre Workshop, make sure you have eaten a good breakfast and lunch. You must wear comfortable, loose fitted clothing and sports footwear.

  • Friday 30th September 2016 - 'The Threepenny Opera' by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, adapted by Simon Stephens

15.30 - 00.30. National Theatre, Southbank, London. For all 4th, LVI and UVI Theatre Studies pupils. Optional for 5th year.  

  • Wednesday 2nd November 2016 - 'Institute' by Gecko Theatre Company

19.30. Nuffield Theatre, Southampton. A Level Theatre Studies pupils.

  • Thursday 17th November 2016 - 'Things I Know to be True' by Andrew Bovelle and a Frantic Assembly production

Chichester Festival Theatre, Chichester. For all 4th, LVI and UVI Theatre Studies pupils. Optional for 5th and 3rd year.

Please check which trips are relevant for your son/daughter. Pupils may wear smart casual home clothes for all evening trips. For local trips, parents are expected to make arrangements to drop off and collect from the theatre, NOT at the school. Please make any necessary payment preferably via KESpay by following the link above. Alternately you can pay by cheque to the Accounts Office, with your son/daughter’s name and trip they will be attending written on the back of the envelope.
