Mindfulness Course - Spring Term 2017
The course will be run by Annie Davison. This is a ten week course that will begin in the autumn term on Thursday 5th of January. If you would like to join this course, you must be available to attend all nine sessions. The sessions will begin at 1pm and end at 1.40pm and will take place on the following dates in M11:
January 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th
February 2nd, 9th, 16th
March 9th, 16th
There are a limited number of places available and they will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. You will receive an email, before the end of term explaining the outcome of your application.
The Introduction to Mindfulness course .b (dot-be) is a 9-week programme run in the Autumn and Spring terms, that will give you a taste of mindfulness and teach you about it in such a way that you can return to it anytime and use it throughout your life if you choose to do so.
Mindfulness at the most simple level is an awareness-raising exercise that can lead to immediate results: greater happiness; feeling calmer; better concentration; greater ability to deal with stress and anxiety.
Mindfulness is a skill that can be developed, or if you like, a muscle that you can exercise. It can be likened to tuning-up a musical instrument. We all possess a very precious instrument, our brain. In Mindfulness practise we follow a very simple set of guidelines that teach us to tune-up our minds: tune-up to come to school; tune-up to learn; tune-up before a match; tune-up before a performance; tune-up for examinations; tune-up to go home.
