Linguistics Olympiad

Linguistics Olympiad Club runs weekly in the Autumn Term and early part of the Spring Term to work on linguistic tasks of the sort that are tested in the UKLO (UK Linguistics Olympiad) Competition which takes place in February.

The next competition will take place in February 2017.

Last academic year (2015-16), the competition took place on Monday 1 February 2016, and we entered teams at both Advanced and Intermediate Level.

Success was achieved by the following students:

Advanced Level:

Gold David Veres

Silver Toby Saer (who missed out on Gold by less than 1%)

Intermediate Level:

Gold Matthew Barber, Ina Cho, Georgia Everest, Henry Marden, Ethan Sharpe, Iona Todd, Eleanor Turner

Silver Grace Bailey, Isobel Searles, Iolanta Spanner

Bronze Marrium Chughtai, Naomi Lee, Georgia Stonadge

In 2014-15 we entered also teams at both Intermediate and Advanced Level, winning Bronze, Silver and Gold medals as follows:
