Trip Letters plus kit lists / consent forms (where necessary) are linked below in the Activity's section!
Photography - trip letter
I am pleased to confirm that your child will be joining the Photography option for Endeavour this year. They will be taking part in two days of photography workshops and activities on Thursday 30th June and Friday 1st July. There is no cost for this activity.
In order to get the most out of these days some equipment will be necessary. This is detailed below:
- Camera (a phone may be second best here as battery life is generally lower and functions are more limited – ipads are inappropriate)
- Fully Charged Battery
- Spare, charged battery and/or charger
- Cable or Card reader for connection to PC via USB (unless camera is wi-fi enabled)
- A pocket-sized object/item of interest to photograph on the Friday
If your child has photography equipment beyond this that they wish to bring such as a tripod, flash, lenses then it will most likely be useful. Please be mindful that any photography equipment brought into School on the Endeavour days will be the responsibility of your child.
This activity takes place on the School site but during the two days of Endeavour no lunch will be provided. Your child should ensure that they attend with a packed lunch and snacks for the day. Pupils are not required to wear uniform on these two days.
We will meet in Classroom S1 (Science/DT Block) at 8.50 on both days.
Climbing - Trip letter
As you will know, your child has been allocated a place on the Climbing trip during Endeavour this year. The dates of our Climbing trip are Thursday 30th June to Saturday 2nd July.
Students should meet at school at 08.35 in the North Playground on Thursday 30th June.
The students will need three bags; firstly, a small rucksack with their drink and packed lunch for the journey, waterproofs, warm top, sun cream and hat. On arrival in the Peak District it is likely we will go straight out to climb before we access the trailer with the tents and their spare clothes. We are planning to allow the students to share tents and cook in pairs on this trip but please do email me if you would like your child to have an individual tent or cooking stove and this can be arranged.
The second bag will have their food for Thursday evening, Friday breakfast, packed lunch and dinner and Saturday breakfast. Following a Saturday morning climbing session and packing up the campsite the students will need money to purchase a "fish and chip” style lunch on the way home; I would suggest no more than £10.
The third bag will have their sleeping clothes, sleeping bag, spare clothes, swimming costume / shorts, wash bag and towel. Both the food bag and clothes bag will be stored on the trailer until Thursday evening.
Weather permitting, we plan to climb on North Burbage Rocks on Thursday. Then on Friday at Stannage (High Neb). Later in the afternoon we hope to swim at Hathersage outdoor, heated swimming pool (with lifeguards), before heading back to camp.
If there is inclement weather while we are away we may take the opportunity to visit one of Sheffield’s indoor climbing walls or walk along the famous Millstone Grit ridges in preference to climbing. On Saturday we intend to leave the Peak District by 14.00hrs which should mean a collection time of approximately 19.00hrs at School on the Saturday. This will be confirmed on the return journey and will be entirely dependent on the traffic.
Payment (£95) needs to be arranged by Friday 10th June in order to secure the place. Payment can be made via KESpay KP1147 and is non-refundable.
Nearer the time you will receive an electronic consent form please indicate on this whether you child is a strong swimmer.
You will find a kit / equipment list on the School website (Endeavour page – scroll to Camping section) and do not hesitate to contact me at School if you have any questions. There will be a meeting for the students at 13.00 hrs on Friday 17th June to discuss food, tent arrangements and answer any questions they may have.
During the trip the emergency contact number for us in Derbyshire will be 07917 262012. Please be aware that mobile coverage may be intermittent and therefore we will get back to you as soon as possible. The group are camping at Harden Farm Camping and Caravan Site, Parsons Lane, Hope Valley. Tel: (01433) 620001

Your child will spend two days at Stroud using their cookery facilities. We will transport them to and from Stroud by minibus. The morning will be spent cooking something that they can eat as their lunch. In the afternoon sessions pupils will be taught the skills essential for a good pudding and hopefully will bring these treats home to share with you.
Pupils can wear their own clothes over the two days and may want to bring additional snacks to accompany their lunch and to ensure they have their water bottle. Please be aware that Stroud is a nut-free school.
