Outstanding Summer 2019 Results

A Level

100% of King Edward’s students in 2019 passed all of their A levels with an improvement on last year’s results at the top level. 82% of all grades were at A*, A or B with over half at A* and A. 35% of students gained 3 or more A or A* grades and 20% of all grades were at A*. Over four fifths of the UVI cohort will proceed to Russell Group universities.

Head Master, Julian Thould, comments:

“We are again delighted that our students have gained such excellent results, particularly given the additional challenge of linear A levels. The results show what our students can achieve through ambition and persistent hard work supported by outstanding teaching. Congratulations go to all of those who leave King Edward’s for university after such well-deserved success.”

GCSE/IGCSE

99.2% of IGCSEs awarded in 2019 were at grade C / 4 or above with 77% of all grades at A* and A (or grades 9-7). 92% of all grades taken were awarded at A*, A or B (grades 9-6). 99.5% of students obtained the minimum 5 GCSE passes including IGCSE Mathematics and English.

Head Master, Julian Thould, comments:

“We are delighted to report another set of impressive results, particularly given the pressures involved with preparing for new specifications in a number of subjects. Our students have worked with striking commitment and industry to achieve nearly three quarters of all grades at A or A* grade. This success is a fine tribute to our students and their teachers.”
