The Classics department is organising a First Year day trip for all First Year pupils to Butser Ancient Farm. The dates are:
Monday 14 June - Forms 1-4, 1-5 & 1-6.
Thursday 17 June - Forms 1-1, 1-2 & 1-3.
This will include a visit to the Iron Age Village and Roman Villa. Pupils will be involved in a number of activities throughout the day, including wattle and daubing and learning to live as a Celt. The trip is intended to support the background material on Ancient Britain which the pupils are studying as part of the Cambridge Latin Course.
The cost of the trip is covered by the department. We will leave school at 8.50am by coach from Hill Lane and return for the end of the school day at 4pm. Pupils who usually have a school dinner will be given a packed lunch, otherwise one will be required, and all students are expected to provide their own drinks bottle.
The site has a robust risk assessment and COVID secure measures have been put in place. Information is available on request.
School uniform is not required but students should wear clothing appropriate for the visit and the weather conditions at the time. If the weather is hot then they should bring sun cream. Pupils may like to bring a couple of pounds spending money as there is a small shop.
Any extra details will be given in class.
