18 students and 3 staff had a wonderful week in Turkey over the Easter holidays. 2 days were spent in Istanbul visiting , amongst other places, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi palace and underground Cistern. Of course the inevitable trip to the Grand Bazaar resulted in a number of interesting purchases including ‘authentic’ Turkish slippers, plenty of Turkish Delight and a mini sultan’s outfit. The group spent an informative morning on the Gallipoli peninsula, visiting Anzac bay as well as both the Australian and Turkish cemeteries. For classicists, the highlight had to be an afternoon trip to Troy and an opportunity to climb inside the horse, just like Odysseus. Food, hotels, weather and guide were all splendid.
