Upper School French

Upper School students follow the Edexcel IGCSE course (1-9). The examination is divided into the four skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing and each skill area is worth 25%. The examination is tested at the end of the two year course and is 100% externally assessed. For more information on the IGCSE please follow this link to the specification.

Every student is issued with an Edexcel IGCSE textbook and grammar book and will have a subscription to the Languagegym and ThisisLanguage websites to practise the vocabulary and grammar.  They have also been provided with a list of excellent apps for their iPads.

Students are set according to ability and have an opportunity to work with one of our French assistants on a regular basis. They are given access to a range of material in the multi-media centre and are encouraged to develop their linguistic skills and independent learning through the resources on the Student Resources section of the website.

There is a trip to Paris offered bi-annually to members of the Upper School in October.
