We are a forward-thinking department that provides an open, exciting and challenging environment for all students to develop as musicians. Standards are high and large numbers of students participate in a diverse and vibrant programme of musical activities.
There is something to suit all musical tastes from the Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, First Year, Senior or Chamber Choir to the Swing Band, Big Band and Soul Band, not to mention the many chamber music ensembles. There are many opportunities for students to perform in concerts at school and in the wider community and there are regular trips abroad.
Students enjoy working in a purpose built department with a Recording Studio, Recital Room and Mac Music Technology Suite.
Regular trips to concerts and operas are arranged and professional musicians are invited in to the department to lead a range of workshops and master classes. There are a number of Scholarships and Music Awards available for advanced musicians.
