Twenty three Upper School and Sixth Form students travelled to Covent Garden on Friday 30th September to attend a matinée erformance of the Royal Opera’s La Traviata. After having some time to wander round the delightful environs of the old market, the pupils were treated to a feast for the eyes and ears as Verdi’s sublime music was presented to the audience in the surroundings of an extravagant Enlightenment set. The heroine, Violetta, stole the show with a magnificent display of vocal tenderness mixed with virtuosity and inspired a few of the girls to dream of the Covent Garden stage!
