On 18TH October 2019, staff and students were welcomed into the Recital Hall for our first Music While You Lunch recital of the year. This afternoon concert showcased the recent hard work our students have put into their new repertoire. Evelyn Nagy began the recital with a wonderful performance of “Moderato” by Max Bruca on the piano. Although it is her first term at King Edward VI, we were delighted to hear first year student, Rosa Shepherd. Rosa performed a technically challenging and impressive piece on her euphonium, Klezmer by Jock McKenzie. James King performed The Entertainer, the famous work of pianist Scott Joplin, evoking the true spirit of the title. Our first singer of the afternoon was Anna Morely, who performed a beautiful rendition of The Irish Blessing by Bob Chilcott. Nathan Man followed with a very expressive performance of Elgia by Nino Rota on his oboe. Amelia Roberts sang with confidence and finesse, supporting the evocative imagery behind the lyrics The Water is Wide by Alan Bullard. Junhao Liu concluded the concert with his piano performance. Tutors, teachers and friends of our young performers were very impressed with their musicianship and confidence in sharing their talents.
