KES pupils visit Hamble Lifeboat

Shortly before the Christmas break KES Sixth Form kayakers and sailors continued their association with the Hamble Lifeboat by paying their brand new boat house a visit. Members of the Sixth Form enjoyed a talk about the history of the volunteer lifeboat service that operates in the Solent area, before taking a closer look at their life saving vessels and taking part in some practical rope work led by members of the crew. The highlight for many of the students was trying out some of the high tech kits used to save lives that included a set of thermal imaging goggles. Our thanks to the Hamble lifeboat crew for giving up their time and for inviting us to their new boathouse.
