FOURTH YEAR PARENTS’ EVENING – WEDNESDAY 4 DECEMBER 2019
You are cordially invited to the Fourth Year parents’ evening on Wednesday 4th December between 6.00pm and 8.30pm during which you will have an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with teaching staff. The GCSE and IGCSE courses are now well underway and this evening will provide an opportunity to review progress. Your son/daughter is welcome to attend and join in the discussions.
There is a plan below of which staff will be in attendance. Your son or daughter will be bringing home a paper copy of this sheet detailing their subject teachers and information regarding the time and place of your meeting with their Group Tutor. It is important that you bring that paper copy with you on the evening to assist in identifying the staff you need to speak with.
As with all such busy occasions, I would ask you to restrict your discussions with the Group Tutor and subject teachers to a reasonable length. If a longer meeting is desirable this can be arranged at a later date.
At 7.00pm I will make a brief address in the Main Hall and will be available throughout the evening to deal with any questions.
This is a year group which is doing well academically. It is also fully involved in School activities although, no doubt, some pupils are beginning to find that their extra-curricular commitments are conflicting with the need to maintain high academic standards. Clearly, we expect the academic side of School life to have priority in the critical time ahead. I know that you will want to help your child to keep a proper balance, especially if their ideas of what that is differ from yours and ours!
We will be advising Fourth Year pupils about the Sixth Form during a Looking Forward day towards the end of the summer term and there will be a full programme of interviews and advice about careers at the start of the Fifth Year. Information about the various forms of financial assistance which are available in the Sixth Form will be published in the Bulletin.
For parking, parents should use the Wilton Road entrance. Please use any free space on the drive or alternatively there will be stewards to assist with parking and we would appreciate it if parents would follow their instructions. The gate next to the DT building will be open for exit only: please do not try to enter through this gate.
If you have any special needs, as a result of disability, with which you require assistance on the evening, please let Mr. Rosenburg know by Friday 29th November so that he can make arrangements to assist you.
Please contact your child’s Tutor if you are unable to attend.
Mr NT Parker
