Parents' Evenings

Second Year

Dear Parents and Guardians,

You are cordially invited to the Second Year Parents’ Evening on Tuesday 3 March between 6.00pm and 8.30pm during which you will have an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with teaching staff. Once you have signed in for the evening, you will receive an information sheet with the teachers of your son or daughter highlighted and a map of where to find them. Your son or daughter is not invited to attend on this occasion.

At 7pm I will make a brief address and then Dr Waymark, Deputy Head (Academic) will give a short, but important, talk about the options process. I will be available, together with Dr Waymark, at the front of the Hall throughout the evening to deal with any questions. Mr Jackson, who is the Head of Second Year, may also give a brief introductory address.

When your child moves into the Third Year next September, there will be some adjustment in the curriculum which will enable him or her to study a new language if he or she should wish, along with the opportunity to opt for certain subjects. Details of this process, including the options booklet, will be emailed to you towards the end of February. Mrs Rugge-Price, who teaches Italian, will be available for consultation should you wish to discuss this option.

For the benefit of those of you for whom this is your first parents’ evening at King Edward’s, you have been allocated an interview time with your child’s Tutor, which will be emailed to you before the evening. For subject teachers, however, you will be asked to join the relevant queue. As with all such busy occasions, I would ask you to restrict your discussions with the Group Tutor and subject teachers to a reasonable length.

For parking, parents should use the Wilton Road entrance. Please use any free space on the drive or alternatively there will be stewards to assist with parking and we would appreciate it if parents would follow their instructions. The gate next to the DT building will be open for exit only: please do not try to enter through this gate.

If you have any special needs, as a result of disability, with which you require assistance on the evening, please let Mr Jackson know by 28 February so that he can try to make arrangements to assist you.

Please inform your child’s Tutor if you are unable to attend.

Yours faithfully

Mr N Parker
