Dear Parents and Guardians,
UPPER SIXTH PARENTS’ EVENING – Thursday 6th February
You are cordially invited to the Upper Sixth Parents’ Evening on Thursday 6th February between 6.00pm and 8.30pm at which you will have an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their subject teachers. We feel it is beneficial for your son or daughter to be present also.
The focus of the evening will be on subject related progress, but there is an opportunity to speak to your child’s tutor if you would like to do so. In this instance, please ask your child to arrange an appointment with their tutor between 6.00pm and 6.50pm. Subject teachers will operate the usual queuing arrangements. As with all such busy occasions, I would ask you to restrict your discussions to a reasonable length; an email follow up or further meeting can always be arranged.
There will be two talks during the evening; I will make a brief address in the Main Hall at 7pm, whilst at 5.45pm Mrs Millar and Mr Culver will talk on Higher Education – this will take place in the Hospitality Suite adjacent to the Dining Room. This Higher Education talk will focus on the process for responding to university offers, the arrangements for results day, the university Clearing process, and the support available for students applying to university after their results are known (so called PQA applications).
For parking, parents should use the Wilton Road entrance. Please use any free space on the drive or alternatively there will be stewards to assist with parking and we would appreciate it if parents would follow their instructions. The gate next to the DT building will be open for exit only: please do not try to enter through this gate.
If you have any special needs as a result of disability, with which you require assistance on the evening, please let Mr Havers know by Thursday 30th January so that he can make arrangements to assist you.
I look forward to seeing you on the 6th February; please could I ask you to contact your child’s Tutor if you are unable to attend, so that subject staff will know of any absences.
Mr NT Parker
