Dear Parents and Guardians,
THIRD YEAR PARENTS’ EVENING - WEDNESDAY 26th FEBRUARY 2020
You are cordially invited to the Third Year Parents’ Evening on Wednesday 26th February between 6.00pm and 8.30pm during which you will have an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with teaching staff.
Your son or daughter is invited to attend on this occasion. If your son or daughter is not going home before the parents’ evening, it is school policy that students in the Third Year are not allowed to leave the site. Please could you complete the survey, which can be found here to indicate whether they will be remaining on site between the end of the school day and the start of parents’ evening? Please could you also outline any dietary requirements for your son or daughter as a packed tea will be provided for them.
At 7.00pm I will make a brief address and then Dr Waymark, Deputy Head (Academic), will give a short, but important, talk about the options process. Details of this process, including the options booklet, were included in Issue 15 of the Bulletin. I will be available, together with Dr Waymark throughout the evening to deal with any questions. Mrs Walls may also give a brief address regarding pastoral matters.
When your child enters the Fourth Year in September, he or she will embark on the remainder of his/her courses for GCSE examinations. Economics, Sports Science, Dance and the HPQ are not studied in the Lower School and so teachers of these subjects will be available on the evening should you wish to discuss these options.
For the benefit of those of you for whom this is your first parents’ evening at King Edward’s, you have been allocated an interview time with your child’s Tutor, which will be emailed to you before the evening. For subject teachers, however, you will be asked to join the relevant queue. As with all such busy occasions, I would ask you to restrict your discussions with the Group Tutor and subject teachers to a reasonable length. Once you have signed in on the evening, you will receive an information sheet with the teachers of your son or daughter highlighted and a map of where to find them.
For parking, parents should use the Wilton Road entrance. Please use any free space on the drive or alternatively there will be stewards to assist with parking. The gate next to the DT building will be open for exit only: please do not try to enter through this gate.
If you have any special needs, as a result of disability, with which you require assistance on the evening, please let Mrs Walls know by Wednesday 12th February so that she can try to make arrangements to assist you.
Please inform your child’s Tutor if you are unable to attend.
Mr N T Parker
