Dear Parents and Guardians,

You are cordially invited to the Third Year Parents’ Evening on Tuesday 28 February between 6.00pm and 9.00pm during which you will have an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with teaching staff. Your son or daughter is not invited to attend on this occasion but will be bringing home a list of his/her teachers who will be available during the evening and also the time and venue for your Tutor appointment. It is important that you bring that paper copy with you on the evening to assist in identifying the staff you need to speak with.

At 7.00pm I will make a brief address and then Dr Waymark, Deputy Head (Academic), will give a short, but important, talk about the options process. Details of this process, including the options booklet has been emailed to you recently. I will be available, together with Dr Waymark at the front of the Hall throughout the evening to deal with any questions. Mrs Henderson may also give a brief address regarding pastoral matters.

When your child enters the Fourth Year in September he or she will embark on the remainder of his/her courses for GCSE examinations. Economics, academic Physical Education, Computer Science, Classical Civilisation, and the HPQ are not studied in the Lower School and so teachers of these subjects will be available on the evening should you wish to discuss these options.

For the benefit of those of you for whom this is your first parents’ evening at King Edward’s, you have been allocated an interview time with your child’s Tutor, however for subject teachers you will be asked to join the relevant queue. As with all such busy occasions, I would ask you to restrict your discussions with the Group Tutor and subject teachers to a reasonable length. If a longer meeting is desirable this can be arranged.

For parking, parents should use the Wilton Road entrance. Please use any free space on the drive or alternatively there will be stewards to assist with parking and we would appreciate it if parents would follow their instructions. The gate next to the DT building will be open for exit only: please do not try to enter through this gate.

If you have any special needs, as a result of disability, with which you require assistance on the evening, please let Mrs Henderson know by Friday 17 February so that she can try to make arrangements to assist you.

Please inform your child’s Tutor if you are unable to attend.

Yours sincerely

Mr A J Thould

Head Master
