The department offers students the opportunity to take AQA GCSE and A level courses in Sports Science. The teaching members of the department are all enthusiastic as well as knowledgeable in their subject.
For the 2021-2022 Academic Year the following teachers are:
4th Year GCSE: Mr Powell, Mrs Henderson and Mrs Kelly.
5th Year GCSE: Mr Penn and Mr Kent.
Lower 6th A Level: Mr Penn, Mrs Kelly and Mrs Henderson.
Upper 6th A Level: Mrs Kelly, Mr Powell and Mr Mixer.

The GCSE PE course allows students to increase their knowledge, understanding and performance in physical activities. The course aims to promote physical activity, develop positive attitudes and make students aware of safe practice. We follow the AQA syllabus.
The A Level Sport and Physical Education is an interesting and fascinating course. The syllabus includes biomechanics, commercialism, disability, drugs, education, international sport, history of sport, leisure, elite performance, physiology, psychology, recreation, sociology and world games. We follow the AQA syllabus.
The courses consist of both theory and practical lessons; they are academically and practically challenging and will suit a wide range of students.
