Sixth Form

Wider reading

One of the key differences between iGCSE / GCSE and A Level is the importance of wider reading. To really push ahead during your two years of A Level study, you will need to read beyond the confines of your text books and notes in an effort to gain a deeper understanding of the material. For those of you considering applications to highly competitive courses at top universities, wider reading is a must.

The following recommendations have been made by the Faculties at KES, but individual teachers will have their own suggestions. Just ask, teachers will be happy to give you recommendations.

Don’t forget that the school library staff are always willing to help, and that the 6th Form Study Area has a cross section of interesting books and periodicals for use during your study periods.

For Mr Culver's suggestions for general reading, including novels and poetry, see the last page of the Economics reading list.

“No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance.” Confucius
