Sport at KES

Sport plays a central role within the life of a King Edward VI student. This successful department is committed to providing opportunities for all students to participate in sporting activity at all levels and to challenge and support students to achieve their sporting potential, whatever that may be.

We rightly celebrate the fact that last year over 650 students represented the school at some stage last year across 101 teams in over 1000 fixtures at some stage of the year and that, as well a fixture list that challenges our A teams, there were fixtures at C team level in netball and cricket and down to E teams in hockey.

Our sports teams are very successful with teams across the major sports of rugby, hockey, netball and cricket regularly winning county championships and qualifying for latter stages of national competitions with some teams recently reaching national finals.  In addition there are currently over 40 students competing at regional, national or even international level across a wide range of sports and they are supported through the newly formed Elite Sports Performer Programme

Sports Awards & Scholarships are now available at 11+, 13+, and 16+ and enquiries should be directed to the registrar.

Students are fortunate to be able to work with some outstanding sports coaches in some excellent facilities including the recently developed fitness suite and the outstanding fields at wellington sports ground.

If you have any enquiries relating to the sport provision please contact Mr D Kent, Director of Sport by email at dk@kes.hants.sch.uk.
