U14 Netball Team Going To Regionals!!

On the 10th of October nine girls from the Second and Third Years represented KES at the annual County Netball Tournament. Nineteen schools from across Hampshire travelled to Southampton on the crisp autumn morning for what promised to be a competitive day of netball.

The KES team were placed in a pool for the morning round robin and had to face some challenging matches against PHS, Farnborough Hill, Alton Convent, Brookfield and Toynbee. The KES girls took a while to find their form only winning a couple of the matches by one or two goals and losing to PHS 5-4, but their hard work paid off and they finished in second place and went through to the National Cup Competition in the afternoon. After the lunch break and a long team talk the girls grew in confidence and they found their stride performing some outstanding netball and winning games in what appeared to be effortless style. The team had to face PHS again in the Cup Competition and once again they proved too much for us as we narrowly missed out losing 7-5. PGS also put up a good fight but this time the KES side were determined not to let them get the better of us and we came away with a 6-6 draw. The confidence in the team and the trust in each other showed as the afternoon progressed and the KES U14 team beat

Bedales 9-4, St Nicholas 9-5 and Thornden 10-3.The end result was very close and came down to one point difference between KES and PHS. The consistency and the determination of the KES players paid off as they finished the Cup Competition as runners up to PGS. The KES U14 side will be joining PGS in the Regional Competition held in February. The girls deserve a huge congratulations for their fantastic achievement.
