Sport at KES

Head of Rugby: Mr L Powell (

Captain of Rugby: Max Self

Rugby is the major competitive sport for boys in the Autumn term.  Our Saturday fixtures are an excellent opportunity for boys to represent the School and to work with their peers to develop their performance.  We regularly play some of the more established rugby playing Schools in the south.

We field 12 teams: 2 senior teams and A and B teams at all other levels. and we regularly create opportunities for as many players as possible to represent King Edward VI School.

We enter the county cup at U15 and U16 level and have also entered the County 10s tournament which we are the reigning champions.  In addition to this we enter the Nat West Cup at U15 and U18 level and in 2012 our U15 reached the 6th round.

Each September King Edward VI School host the South Coast Kings Rugby Tournament where Schools compete in Under 15 and Under 18 competitions. This established tournament attracts some of the strongest Schools and Colleges from all over the UK.

A large number of our students are involved in county rugby and there are also a good number of players who train at the London Irish academy.
