Trips and Visits

Go Ape Pastoral Morning 2020

As part of the settling in process, First Year pupils and their prefects will be taking part in a very active and rewarding trip at the Go Ape centre in Itchen Country Park.

Over the course of the visit to Go Ape, the students will be given a range of tasks that are designed to challenge them. They will be taken out of their comfort zone on the high ropes and will also take part in a number of team building exercises.

The course offers a wide variety of outdoor activities and challenges including high activities. The activities during the day will include standing, sitting, balancing, crawling, bending, lifting, climbing and take place in a woodland setting. Where possible the instructors aim to be inclusive. If, due to medical reasons, a pupil is unable to take part in an activity directly then he or she will act in a supporting role to help their team accomplish the problem that has been set.

Safety is of the highest priority and approved and experienced tutors supervise all activities. All the course participants will wear a safety helmet during activities. Hairstyles must allow for the correct fitting of safety helmets. Participants will be outside all day whatever the weather. Being cold leads to low energy levels and discomfort and so students should bring plenty of warm layers for both their top and bottom halves.
