Sadly, due to the uncertainty of the continuing COVID-19 Coronavirus situation, this trip has been cancelled. Parents will be fully refunded in due course.
Below are details of our next Ski trip in Claviere, Italy, which open to current First, Second & Third Year students.
We have travelled to Claviere in the past and feel confident that everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy the week irrespective of their standard of skiing and the resort will provide a fantastic experience and trip for our students.
We will be away for the first full week of the Easter holiday, leaving on Saturday 27 March 2021 and returning on Saturday 3 April 2021. We have been able to secure a competitive price for this trip of £1,250. This price includes return flights, transfers to and from the airports, 7 nights full board accommodation in the Hotel Savoia including a hot lunch, 6 day ski pass, hire of skis, ski boots and helmet, 4 hours of ski lessons per day and full insurance. All members of the party under the age of 18 will be provided with and required to wear a helmet whilst skiing. Please note if your child does not have a British Passport they may require a Visa to visit Italy. This is the Parents’ responsibility to arrange and the School will not be liable for any costs incurred. Please also note that Pupils will be covered by School insurance for this trip, but may not be covered for any pre-existing conditions. Parents may need to purchase their own insurance to cover such conditions. For further clarity on this please contact Assistant Head Co-Curricular Mr Kent.
The hotel offers virtual doorstep skiing and the resort affords a fabulous range of skiing with the Monti della Luna lift pass. This pass covers approximately 90kms of skiing in Cesana and Claviere, as well as 1 day in Montgenevre (France) and 1 day access to the entire Italian section of the Milky Way ski area. As such, school ski groups have access to numerous options available to enjoy a greater choice of skiruns. The nursery slopes on the outskirts of the village promise sunshine and forgiving descents and once new skiers grow in confidence there are an innumerate amount of interlinking wide blues and testing reds providing the perfect pistes for progression. From high, open runs to lower, wooded trails, there are a variety of runs to satisfy the most seasoned of skiers. If the conditions permit there may be the opportunity for some additional skiing for students, led by qualified staff, subject to the conditions provided by their ASCL qualification, but beyond this students will not be permitted to ski unsupervised. As a school trip, this means there is inevitably less skiing than available during a family holiday but past experience demonstrates that skiers of all abilities are able to enjoy the week of skiing.
Should you wish your son/daughter to be a member of Ski 2021 I would be grateful that the Finance Office receive a non-refundable deposit of £250 by Friday 8 November 2019. I will write with confirmation of the trip and detail a payment schedule, which will spread the remaining payments between now and October 2020. I will also provide further details at this point, including an Information Evening with more detailed plans for the week and arrangements to take novice skiers to the Southampton dry ski slope before the trip
There is also a snowboarding trip running concurrently in 2021, details of which can be found here. Please note that this trip will also clash with the 3rd and 4th year trip to Spain and the Classics Trip to Italy.
Please note that your child’s place on this activity is not confirmed until the School has received payment of £250. Places are allocated in the order in which payment is received by the Accounts Office. The preferred (and quickest) payment method is through the KESpay KP906. The School will also accept payment by cheque, but please be aware that payment by cheque may delay the allocation of a place to your child. Cheques should be sent directly to the Accounts Office and made payable to King Edward VI School. I shall confirm the allocation of places as soon as possible after the closing date of Friday 8 November.
In the meantime, should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via the email address below.
