In addition to all the support provided by our deliberately small and dedicated tutorial system and the subject-specific provision made by academic Heads of Department, students looking at courses which fall outside of the A level curriculum can link into specialised support.
- Practical help with applications
- Careers lunches with local firms and potential employers
- Work placements and shadowing
- University Open Day Visits
- Virtual Share Portfolio Scheme
- PSHE & FS Introduction to Finance
- Young Enterprise Scheme
Careers in Finance and Management sectors: University courses that include some sort of finance, accountancy or management element attract a very high percentage of our applicants. Students are challenged to consider their motivation for particular aspects of work within the financial and commercial sector and to evaluate their management potential.
Virtual Share Portfolio Scheme and Young Enterprise: Students in the Upper School and Sixth Form have the opportunity to join this first scheme whilst the second, Young Enterprise scheme, is open solely to members of the Sixth Form. In both cases, students have a chance to participate in activities that link directly to the world of finance and to experience, first hand and with the guidance of local business mentors, the issues inherent in managing a company.
Introduction to Finance: In both our PSHE programme lower down the school and our Sixth Form FS (foundation studies) provision, students have the opportunity to explore elements of the financial sector in both the commercial and personal sphere.
