The HE & Careers Team's contribution to the Lower School commences at the point when 2nd year students are requested to make decisions about their curriculum for the following year and when 3rd year students are asked to make their choice of subjects to be studied to GCSE. In addition, the Fast Tomato psychometric careers analysis is completed by all Third Years on-line, and independent reports are sent home to parents. This programme provides a digital platform that can be accessed by the individual student through the remainder of their years at KES and beyond, when they may be considering changing jobs or careers long after they have left university.
All these transitions and decisions are discussed with tutors, and academic HoDs and Lower School Heads of Year and the Deputy Head (Academic) are also involved in this process.
Following a meeting with Lower School Tutors, students are given an outline of the curriculum for the next academic year and the various curriculum routes are explained. Thereafter, the broader career implications are highlighted to them. During a second, informal plenary session students are able to air various concerns and are given advice concerning wider implications.
