University and Careers

Upper School

The formal Careers Programme begins in the Spring Term of the Fourth Year.

During the Fourth Year every student will be introduced to the HE & Careers resources available to them. All students are invited to take part in a formal programme of psychometric testing using the well-established Morrisby test.  A detailed report is produced and sent home to parents and one-to-one follow-up interviews are conducted in the Summer Term.  A careers Fair is also held in the Summer Term so that Upper School students can being to focus more on what they may in interested in doing once they have left School.  The Fourth Year Looking Forwards Day, towards the end of the Summer Term,  gives all students the opportunity to attend Sixth form taster lessons, hear more about life in the Sixth Form at KES and how to make sensible A Level subject choices, so that their HE & Careers plans can best be realised.  For a copy of the presentation to parents, please see the following page.

During the Fifth Year all students will be interviewed individually by their tutors and the Careers Coordinator, to encourage discussion of their post 16 plans.  Fifth Year students and their parents are invited to an information evening in the Autumn term at which they can discuss their likely course of study with Heads of Academic Departments.

Throughout the Upper School, relevant information about internal and external Careers events will be published via the school's "Blue sheet" and through memos to tutors.
